HOWTO: Manage Members of an Active Directory Group or Distribution List

Overview

Active Directory Groups and Distribution Lists are a powerful way to manage access

Procedure

  1. RIGHT-CLICK on an area on your Desktop to create a New Shortcut.  Click on New | Shortcut.


     
  2. In the Create Shortcut window, paste the following in the input box, click on Next to continue.

    %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\rundll32.exe dsquery,OpenQueryWindow


     
  3. Change the Name of the Shortcut to Manage Groups and Distribution Lists. Click on Finish .


     
  4. Locate the newly create icon on the Desktop and DOUBLE-CLICK on it to launch it.
     
  5. In the Find Users, Contacts, and Groups window, type the name of the group that you want to manage and click Find Now.
     
NOTE: You must be designated as the manager of the group in order to change the members of the group.
