How to Search for a Learning Topic

Workday provides multiple ways for employees to access a wide range of learning materials and courses. This article explains various methods to help you find the learning content you need.

Learning Navigation 

If you already know the name of the course you're looking for, you can use this shortcut for quick access. 

On the home screen in Workday, type the Prefix LRN: + Course Name in the search bar.

You can also search for learning content using the following steps:  

  1. Select the Learning app from the Menu

  1. The Learning Home page will open. You can select any courses clicking on the course tile. Also, you can review your transcripts and course progress by clicking My Learning. Click Discover to search for courses. Additional direct links are available under the links at the bottom-left side.

Searching for a Topic 

If you're unsure of the exact course name, Workday offers several ways to discover relevant learning content.  

  1. Select Discover and then select Browse Learning

  1. Type the topic you want to search for and click Search. The results will be listed below the search bar

Using Filters with The Search Option 

To narrow the result of the search, select the appropriate filter(s) from the left-side menu. 

  1. Access Type:  

  • On Demand or  

  • Requires Enrollment.  

  1. Content Provider:  

  • LinkedIn Learning or  

  • Internal (it includes compliance by Vector Solutions) 

  1. Course Offering Instructors: Course filtered by instructors. 

  1. Course Offering Locations: For Blended (live virtual or live in-classroom) (synchronous) courses. Course filtered by campus. 

  1. Created by Workers: Course filtered by course creator.  

  1. Topics: Course filtered by topics, such as  

  • Compliance,  

  • Workday Recruiting,  

  • Workday Payroll,  

  • Workday Finance,  

  • Human Resources,  

  • etc. 

  1. Type:  

  • Digital course. Online self-paced courses. Lessons may include documents, videos, links, etc. 

Blended course. Live virtual or live in-classroom (face-to-face) courses, also called synchronous courses. It may also contain online self-paced lessons, in addition to the live lesson(s). 

  1. Unit Type: Course filtered by type of credits. 

  • Faculty Professional Development Hours 

  • Professional Development hours 

  • Continuing Education 

  • Others

Saving The Search 

Once you have the final search result that you may use in the future, you can save it to avoid creating the search from scratch, it will save the topic and filters you used. 

  1. Click on Save in the left-side, under the Current Search. 

  1. Type a Name for the search. 

  1. Click OK

  1. The saved search will be in the Saved Searches, located under the search box.
