Microsoft Teams - Mobile App Guide

Body

This guide provides instructions for using the core calling features of the Microsoft Teams mobile application on both Android and iOS devices.

Calls Landing Screen

The main Calls screen provides access to your speed dial contacts, call history (Recent), and shared lines/call queues.

Android

  • From the Recent tab, you can tap a call to see options like Chat, Add/Remove from speed dial, and Call back.
  • Tapping the More (...) menu allows you to view the caller's profile or remove the entry from your history.

iOS

  • The layout is similar, offering tabs for Speed dial, Recent, and Shared Lines.
  • Tapping the info icon (i) next to a call in your history will provide more details and actions for that contact.

In-Call Management

While in an active call, you have access to several controls like mute, speakerphone, hold, and transfer.

Android

The in-call menu provides direct access to:

  • Mic on/off (Mute/Unmute)
  • Device (Switch to speakerphone or other audio device)
  • Hold
  • Transfer
  • Dialpad
  • More (...): Access additional options like Park Call, Start recording, and Live captions. Note that options will vary for internal vs. external calls.

iOS

The in-call menu is visually similar and includes:

  • Mic On/Off (Mute/Unmute)
  • Speaker
  • Hold
  • Transfer
  • Dialpad
  • More (...): Contains extra features such as Park Call, Start recording, and showing chat bubbles. Options differ for internal and external calls.

Conference Calls (Multi-Party)

You can add more people to an active call to create a conference call.

Android

Creating a conference call on Android is done by merging calls:

  1. During an active call, place the call on Hold.
  2. Go back to the main Calls screen and initiate a new call to the person you want to add.
  3. Once the second call is active, tap the More (...) options menu.
  4. Select Merge with... and choose the call on hold to combine them into a conference.

iOS

Adding participants on iOS is more direct:

  • During an active call, tap the Add participant (people) icon in the top-right corner.
  • Search for the contact you wish to add or use the dialpad to enter their number.
  • Teams will call the new person and add them to the conference when they answer.
