Connecting to WI-Fi: EduRoam

Overview

This article will provide guidance on how to connect to the EduRoam network at Hillsborough Community College using Android devices.  Before connecting, please understand that you are agreeing to the College's Acceptable Use Policy by doing so.

Below are guidelines for the various platforms.  Please remember that not all platforms and versions can be accounted for.

 

Android

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the wireless icon.

  2. Ensure your wireless radio is turned on, and you will see a list of available wireless networks. Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

  3. When the connection menu appears, note the following settings. Ensure the following settings below are configured for your connection.  Click on the image below to see an example of the network configuration.

    Setting Value
    Security 802.1x EAP
    EAP Method PEAP
    Phase 2 Authentication MSCHAPv2
    Certificate Depending on your version of Android, select Trust on First Use or Do Not Validate
    Identity Your HCC Email Address
    Anonymous Identity Your HCC Email Address

  4. In the Password field, enter the password for the HCC email account and save.

  5. You may be asked to trust a certificate to connect to the network.  Please verify that the Server Name on the certificate is secure.netaccess.hccfl.edu.   Click on the image below to view an example of the certificate.

  6. After accepting the certificate, you will be connected to the EduRoam network. 

iOS

  1. Open your device settings by clicking or searching for the Settings app.

  2. Tap Wi-Fi

  3. Ensure your Wi-Fi radio is turned on, and you will see a list of available wireless networks.  Once you see the eduroam network from the list of available networks, tap on eduroam to connect.

  4. Enter your HCC email address and password.  Examples include:

    • Student: username@hawkmail.hccfl.edu
    • Employee: username@hccfl.edu

    When credentials have been entered, Join will light up in the upper right corner. Tap Join to connect.

  5. You are now connected to the EduRoam wireless network indicated by the blue check mark network to network name and the icon at the top of the screen.
